a milestone

.....

Look. I saw it today and it made me smile.

69 miles, one year of training, two pairs of trainers, more lycra clothing than I’ve ever owned in my life, hundreds of bottles of Lucozade Sport and 22 days to London.

I ran today, after spending an inordinately long time in bed wondering if the clouds were going to pass. Then I fed the children lunch, cleaned out the chickens, and tried as many procrastination techniques as I could.

The clouds didn’t pass. This is me, 3 miles in, soaked to the skin. I look slightly deranged and I’m squinting in the rain.

You can take the girl out of Scotland, but you can’t take Scotland out of the girl. It was pissing down, cars were beeping at me, and I was grinning like a loon.

Interval session: done.
(8mph running – go me)

Thanks to my lovely friend Sarah for the cups of tea and cackling, and to her Aga for warming me up and drying me off.

Now, wine and chocolate

Zoe just arrived, so Sunday is longrunday. Reports to follow.

The most wonderful thing about getting soaked is the joy of drying off and warming up afterwards. Well done you for the run! 8mph? that's positively sprinting

awesome running! i've always found that once i'm 100% soaked i can usually enjoy the rain but until then it's miserable haha

  3. Rachael says:

It was an interval session, so I was zooming between lamp-posts, then walking, then jogging, then zooming. Tea hugging my friend's aga was bliss!

  4. Rachael says:

Yeah, that's exactly how it was! But oh, I loved it!

Love how you always make sure to add chocolate to the end of your runs. :)

  6. Rachael says:

And wine. Carb loading, it's important. Yum!

  7. Linda says:

Oh, I bet that tea tasted so good. (And, later, the wine. Well deserved.) I think it's official: you're dedicated. Eight miles? That's almost 13 km in my world — impressive, rain or shine.

  8. You still look great when drenched! I look terrible when the rain catches me! When i read posts about running I feel so lazy , I cant remember the last time I did any form of running!!

  9. I can't remember what I was going to say last night but I think you're doing brilliantly :)

  10. Rachael says:

    Oh, the tea was heavenly!

I think I look completely bonkers – one eye is half shut against the rain but I was having such a lovely time!

Thank you Nickie! Must go and fix your URL while I remember! xx
