frozen toes

I’m torn between wanting it to snow (pretty, no packed lunches to make tomorrow) and wanting it to thaw (slid down the steps in the garden today when I was out feeding the chickens, need to train outside because the treadmill is no substitute). This is the longest time I can remember that we’ve had snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, and whilst the children are loving it I’m going a bit bonkers. I left the village for the first time in five days yesterday. The supermarket was full of people in woolly hats, panic buying bread and milk. Depending on which forecast you read, tonight we’re either due a thaw, or another four inches of snow.

I’m really hoping the children will get back to school this week so I can head out into the frozen wasteland with my lovely Garmin. Meanwhile, as the roads are still covered in slush and ice, tonight I’ll be on the treadmill for 80 – yes, you read that right – minutes. Run 3, walk 1, run 3, walk 1, run 3, walk 1…it’s exciting stuff.

my vote goes to thawing. i hate the cold/winter etc. and i always dread when my sibs have a snow day because it breaks up the peace and quiet i want in the house ahaha

Yes, after an unexpected extra week of having the children home, I’m kind of looking forward to having the place to myself. Just wait, I’ll be complaining it’s too quiet soon!

I vote for thawing too. We’re frozen solid in the US which means dreaded treadmill time for me too. I can’t imagine doing 80 minutes on one. I’d go stark raving mad. You are much tougher than me!

    • Rachael says:

I’m not tough, I just have a high boredom threshold! Plus I can watch tv and run, so it’s not so bad.

Ran my first (and only) half marathon in November and also had to do some of my training on a treadmill (due to heat while abroad). Good luck and you have my sympathy.

Nice to meet you yesterday via Nicola’s blog party!

I’m impressed! I’ve thrown myself in at the deep end going straight to the full thing. I think I’m insane. But never mind, at least I’m wearing my legs out for a good cause!

80 minutes? That’s impressive, keep it up!

(shameful face) It didn’t happen! But on the bright side, it will be happening tomorrow. Having to rejig the training plan to make up for the children being home from school all last week. How’re things?

As long as it happened at some point :-) How far are you going? Do you keep track of it or just the time intervals?

Things are…a bit slow. I intend to blog at some point…maybe :-)
