Doctor Who
If I had to choose a perfect distraction for the night before the last long run of my marathon training, the new series of Doctor Who would be it.

a milestone
Look. I saw it today and it made me smile.
69 miles, one year of training, two pairs of trainers, more lycra clothing than I’ve ever owned in my life, hundreds of bottles of Lucozade Sport and 22 days to London.
I ran today, after spending an inordinately long time in bed wondering if the clouds were going to pass. Then I fed the children lunch, cleaned out the chickens, and tried as many procrastination techniques as I could.

ooh!
I’ve been nominated for an award. In fact, I’ve been nominated for SIX awards!
The MAD Awards have been put together by Sally, Josie and Eleanor to celebrate the best of British parent bloggers.
They don’t have a category for ‘crappest marathon runner’ or ‘eater of the most chocolate in one sitting’ (a giant bar of Cadbury Whole Nut, if you’re wondering). But I have been nominated, and I know I should be cool and matter of fact about it but I’m not! Yay!
And if you want to vote for me too, well, hooray.
And if you already did, thank you for that too – if you were here, I’d share some of my secret Green & Black’s stash with you. I never win anything, so even being nominated has made my day.
I’m off to cast my vote. There are lots of amazing writers in this funny little blog world (see my links at the side there for some of them, although it’s a constantly list) and it’s nice to be able to show my appreciation.
It’s also a lovely diversion from thinking about that thing that’s happening in 25 days. Gulp.
they shoot horses,
don’t they?
I called the doctor today, because I thought that if I was one of my horses, I’d have called the vet. She made me take off my trousers and prodded (technical term) my legs all over, before pronouncing that she didn’t think it was anything major.
She has referred me to a physiotherapist, and told me to scale back the running until I see her on Thursday. I sat on the couch wearing icepacks, eating chocolate and drinking tea today; not sure that’s quite what she meant by scaling back.
When I spoke to the physiotherapist today she told me to come with my trainers and to bring some shorts. Shorts? I’m slightly worried that she’s expecting a proper marathon running person. I don’t own any shorts. D’you think I need to go out and buy some?
In other news, thanks to the amazing generosity of some really lovely people we’ve now raised an amazing £425 for Heart Research UK on my Just Giving page! Thank you all so much.
